Book Review 15:Sweet Evil

Embrace the Forbidden What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

* The Break Down:
If your looking for an original, kick-ass-plot with an all-to-sexy-male-lead
... I think you have found it!

I'll start off with why I love this book so much. Originality— Yes, this book is about angels BUT! It is so unlike any angel book I’ve ever read! Among all the books out there about angels and demons; Sweet Evil has the most original take on them that I've read. Of course with the angel plot, comes damons and power but with Sweet Evil there is a lot of emphasis put on the Damon's and their individual sins from the 7 deadly sins. Instead of the book being centers about the good, its really centered on the bad. Anna is a 16 year old girl who has always been to good for her own good, never told a lie; until she meets one Mr very sexy Kaiden Rowe. As many times as i say it, its NOT ENOUGH, the spin on angels is so different finally someone who gets it right!  The whole badge concept and the fact that the Nephilim's sole purpose is being bad influences to humans is pure genius!

The Characters. If there's any YA character that is swoon-worthy, than Kaidan Rowe is exactly that. Every time he's in a scene of the book I'm practically bouncing up and down with excitement. There isn't a thing I don't like about him. Kaidan is my man!

Now on a side note, Wiggins actually wrote in the book that his name is pronounced Ka-i-y-den, the Kai pronounced like “Thai”. But I just couldn’t read his name like that, so I just call him Kay-den.

Whoops.

Anyway, let’s just get it out there I LOVE HIM... all of him whether his name was Ka-i-y-den or Kay-den.  God damn it he was sexy.

"Wowza.

He was smokin’ hot. As in H-O-T-T hot. I’d never understood until that moment why girls insisted on adding an extra T. This guy was extra-T worthy."

Sorry am I drooling?

It’s fictional boys like these that are just ruining my life because I know I can never find someone like them. Ugh. Lets be honest on a side note over here:

Boys are doomed, because of our ridiculous expectations thanks to Kaiden,Daemon, Aiden and every other book boyfriend out there.

Thank you authors everywhere.

Now on to Anna.
Anna is ideal student and equivalent of a good girl. She never lies, because even small harmless lie makes her uncomfortable. She is strongly tempted to all "bad" things, but so far she has always been able to resist them. With her extremely enhanced senses and ability to see and feel feelings of other people, she is aware of the fact that she is different. Than she meets attractive drummer and bad boy Kaiden who seems too be different himself and has answers to her questions. The feelings between those two evoke but when Anna discovers her true origin, she realizes that Kaiden may be too bad for her and being together is very dangerous for both of them.

Over all, Sweet Evil was excellent introduction into this YA paranormal series. I was blown away by angels & demons mythology and original twists in this story. First half was not very action-driven BUT it was very interesting to find out all those information about Nephilims and get to know characters. Moreover, banters and conversations between Anna and Kaiden were entertaining and chemistry between them was off the charts. I was pleasantly surprised that even though Sweet Evil is YA story, some scenes were really hot! The second half was undownputtable, I loved every second of it and I cannot wait to find out what is in store for Anna, Kaiden and other characters in next instalment!

  1. OHMYGOODNESS! I READ THIS BOOK WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT AND I FELL IN LOVE. No joke here. I actually slept beside the first and second book for a good month before I was ready to put it back on the bookshelf. And I met Wendy Higgins earlier this summer because it turns out she lives like SUPER CLOSE to me!

I did a review of Sweet Peril, by the way, if you want to check it out.
